Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book my fitting?
As soon as you buy your dress! I schedule a limited number of brides each month to ensure I can provide the very best service to each one. If you are still looking for the perfect gown but would like to go ahead and book with me, thank you! I’m flattered and would love to work with you!
What do I need to bring?
Bring your bridal gown, shoes, foundation garments (bra, shapewear, sticky bra, etc.). Bring one or two of your most supportive friends, and your schedule so we can book your subsequent fittings before you leave.
How much do alterations cost?
The cost of alterations varies from dress to dress and is dependent on factors such as the construction of the gown and the work that needs to be done. A typical price range for standard bridal gown alterations is $500-$1000. Resizing a gown is different from standard alterations and typically can cost from $800 to $2000. Bridesmaid’s dresses and other formal gowns average between $75-$200 but could cost more or less depending on the work needed. I am happy to send a ballpark quote if you would like to send photos of you in the gown and a summary of the work you need or want to have done to your gown.
How long will the appointment be?
There is an hour reserved for each bridal fitting. A typical first fitting may take anywhere from 30-45 minutes. If you believe more time will be needed, please let me know so I can accommodate you.
Do you make custom gowns or veils?
I do, but on a very limited basis. Generally, purchasing a gown that is close to, if not exactly what you are looking for, and making modifications is faster, easier and more cost effective.
Are you able to modify my mom’s (or grandma’s) gown or veil?
Definitely! These are fun projects for me. It’s a way of taking “something old” and turning it into something new for your special day. Let’s schedule a consultation to discuss your vision and create a plan.
I’m planning on losing weight. How will this affect the process?
We get started about 3 months out, so you have time to hit your goals. By the time we start the alterations process, you should be in maintenance mode. If you are on medication that affects your weight or are having a medical procedure, please discuss this with me so we can create a plan that will work for both of us.
Are you insured?
Yes! I have insurance to cover the contents of my workroom and fitting room, including your gown while it is in my possession.
Accessibility:
I work by appointment only out of my home. My fitting studio is on the entry level and there are a few steps leading to the front door. If assistance is required, please let me know so I can determine the best way to accommodate you.
